Just when we thought supercars couldn't possibly get any faster, any louder, any more ridiculous—here comes the next generation, sneering at the idea of limits. Some are genuinely exciting, and still others are gut wrenching to say the least. So, without foreshadowing too much, here are some upcoming cars, a couple of which will be… controversial to say the least. Image Credits: Agent4stars.com, available at [link] Koenigsegg CC850 Earlier this year at the Monterey Car Week, Koenigsegg displayed a second CC850 finished in white. Originally, Koenigsegg had designed the car only for himself. Initial production was to be 50 units to celebrate Von Koenigsegg’s 50th birthday, but due to demand they increased that to 70. Deliveries are slated to begin next year for this piece of automotive art built to succeed the CCX. Image Credits: Aston Martin, available at [link] Aston Martin Valhalla The Valhalla is due for delivery to buyers in 2025, with production having begun in Q1 earlier this year. It is Aston Martin’s first “V-8 mid-engined hybrid supercar” in their own words. In terms of the lineup, it’s supposed to sit below the Valkyrie. Is it worth USD 800,000 (EUR 736,000)? You decide. Corvette Zora The Corvette Zora has already been spotted testing in camo on various tracks, though technical specifications are being guarded closely. Engine: multiple leaks point to the already insane 5.5-litre biturbo V-8 powertrain from the ZR1 being used.Power: 1064-hp (1049 PS) from the ZR1 V-8 could be paired with electric motors for an additional 160 horsepower (157 PS).Torque: 1,292 Nm (953 ft-lb) of torque (estimated)Acceleration: Sub 2.5 secondsProduction: UnknownPrice: USD 200,000 (EUR 183,000) (estimated based on ZR1 pricing) The hybridised setup has been brought down using tech directly from the abomination called the Corvette E-ray. Since the existing ZR1 Corvette can hit 0-60 mp/h (96.5 km/h) in 2.5 seconds, the Zora’s 0-60 time could potentially be in Ferrari F80 territory (which is 2.15 seconds). R-36 Nissan GTR The R-35 GTR ended production just last month, in October of 2024. However, Nissan has not officially said that they are making an R-36. As a matter of fact, the Japanese have remained eerily quiet on the topic, outright refusing requests for comment over the past months. However, they did unveil the Nissan Hyper Force last year, an electric supercar that some top executive had said could replace the R-35, but let’s hope not. Nissan has patented something they call e-4ORCE control tech, which they said “will power all their flagship cars”. So then, the odds of the R-36 going electric are unfortunately way above zero. Sure, it’ll be fast, sure, it’ll be quick, but the question to ask is: will it be worth it? E-G Class Mercedes-Benz is making the Gelandewagen electric. Now, don’t panic (too much), because MB will continue to offer the G63 and G500 ICE versions for the foreseeable future. It has a horrendous feature called “G-ROAR” that mimics the sound of a V-8 when turned on, but hey — it can cross 850 mm of water. Though how much you want lithium batteries and water to mix is a matter of content. That said, the G63 comes very close to the G580 in terms of power, producing 577 hp (569 PS). All in all, it could be an exciting buy if you want a pavement princess for the daily ten-mil office run or weekend trip to the mall. So then, that wraps up the list.
