Bugatti fans are in for an unprecedented experience this November, as The National Automuseum The Loh Collection will host a landmark seminar exploring the brand’s iconic history. Set to take place on the 8th and 9th of November 2024, the event promises to reveal never-before-seen archive materials and imagery that chart Bugatti’s 120-year journey of engineering mastery and design brilliance. Led by Achim Anscheidt, former Director of Design at Bugatti and a key figure in shaping the brand’s modern identity, the expert panel will dive deep into Bugatti’s unparalleled legacy. Attendees will gain rare insights into Ettore Bugatti’s famous design philosophy—"If it is comparable, it is no longer Bugatti"—and how this mantra has guided the brand from its early innovations to its current standing as the pinnacle of automotive excellence. The seminar will also explore how artificial intelligence is poised to influence future Bugatti designs while preserving its signature craftsmanship. Rediscovering Bugatti’s Storied Past and Engineering Triumphs Rare and exclusive Bugatti archives are set to take center stage at The National Automuseum The Loh Collection’s upcoming seminar. This two-day event promises to transport attendees to the heart of Bugatti’s legendary Molsheim factory, where the iconic brand first emerged as a beacon of automotive innovation. Through never-before-seen photos, original correspondence, and authentic design drawings, the seminar will breathe new life into Bugatti’s rich past, exploring both its triumphs and tribulations. One of the seminar’s key focuses will be the turbulent period following World War II, which nearly saw the brand’s demise. Bugatti’s legacy was preserved, in large part, thanks to the dedication of the Schlumpf brothers and their remarkable Bugatti collection. The seminar will also delve into the brand’s dramatic rebirth under visionary entrepreneur Romano Artioli, whose efforts in Campogalliano marked the beginning of Bugatti’s modern revival. This resurgence laid the foundation for one of the brand’s greatest engineering achievements: the construction of the groundbreaking W16 engine under the guidance of Ferdinand Karl Piëch. Adding to the event’s allure, former Bugatti Director of Design, Achim Anscheidt, will reveal previously unpublished drawings and photographs spanning 2004 to 2023, offering an inside look into Bugatti’s design evolution. Anscheidt will take attendees behind the scenes, recounting the rigorous creative process that led to the development of the Bugatti Chiron. This process, which began with over a dozen conceptual designs, ultimately ended in one of the most celebrated hypercars in automotive history. His presentation will also include a rare glimpse into the design of Bugatti’s most recent creation, the Tourbillon. Mate Rimac, CEO of Bugatti Rimac, will also be a special guest at the seminar, adding further weight to the event’s star-studded panel. Rimac, whose own expertise in hypercar development has shaped the future of Bugatti, spoke to the enduring legacy of the brand and its founding figures. "Bugatti is an extraordinary brand—created, nurtured, and promoted by extraordinary people, from Ettore and Jean Bugatti to Romano Artioli and Ferdinand Piëch. During this special event, we can help illuminate so many of those special stories, supported by the precious Bugatti artefacts of the Loh Collection," Rimac noted, underscoring the significance of this rare gathering.
