Bentley has already bid farewell to the iconic W12 motor. The brand has also confirmed that their new hybrid V8 is the latest flagship powertrain. This plug-in hybrid powertrain was first introduced in the new Bentley Continental GT. The brand has now stated that this powertrain will propel the 2026 Bentley Flying Spur too. But then is a plug-in hybrid V8 enough to replace the burly W12? Is it only about horsepower numbers and 0–60 times? Would the new V8 be able to replicate the feel and grunt of the outgoing W12? All that we'll have to wait and see. As of now, all we know is that based on the numbers, the new Ultra Performance Hybrid V8 is a beefy powerhouse. Bentley has high hopes for, and has made significant promises about the new V8. The brand has stated that the new V8-hybrid will elevate the 2026 Bentley Flying Spur to a whole new level. It will be the most powerful, dynamic, and efficient four-door car in Bentley’s 105-year history. Now that is a promising claim that raises our expectations. Ultra Performance Hybrid V8 Of The New 2026 Bentley Flying SpurBentley Ultra Performance Hybrid V8 Under the long hood of the new 2026 Bentley Flying Spur lurks a new plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain. This twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 motor produces 584 horses on its own. The V8 is further assisted by an electric motor, located between it and the transmission. This plug-in hybrid system outputs a combined output of 771 horses and 738 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque. These power figures are 148 hp and 74 lb-ft (100 Nm) higher than the outgoing W12. Powering the single electric motor is a battery pack. We assume it is the same 25.9-kWh found in the new Continental GT. However, the 2026 Bentley Flying Spur will offer at least 45 miles of all-electric range. Bentley has officially confirmed this. They also added that the car's total range will be more than 500 miles. Bentley also claims that they had put significant effort into sound tuning. They claim to have enhanced the cross-plane quality of the V8. Bentley has done this without utilizing any artificial or electronic means. The iconic British brand has not yet revealed the release date of the new 2026 Bentley Flying Spur. They stated that more details will arrive in due course.
