The renowned German tuning firm Brabus has launched its latest creation—the Rocket GTS, part of its 2025 Collection. Unveiled at a dramatic fashion-show-style event that showcased 36 of the brand’s most recent models, the Rocket GTS stood out with its distinctive shooting brake design, despite being the smallest vehicle on display. Based on the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S E Performance, the Rocket GTS is a radical reimagining of the two-door coupe into a shooting brake. Clad entirely in exposed carbon fiber, this hyper-tuned model merges aggressive styling with enhanced practicality, incorporating a custom rear hatch that sets it apart from the original. Brabus has extensively reworked the engine, suspension, wheels, interior, and aerodynamics to create a vehicle it describes as a “hyper gran turismo.” Known for nearly four decades of groundbreaking work on Mercedes-Benz models, Brabus has once again demonstrated its expertise with this bespoke creation. By taking the already potent GT63 S and giving it a comprehensive overhaul, the Bottrop-based tuner has set a high bar for other tuners, reaffirming its place at the forefront of luxury performance vehicles. Cutting-Edge Design and AerodynamicsThe Brabus Rocket GTS starts life as a Mercedes-AMG SL63, a car better known for open-top cruising than high-speed performance. However, Brabus has completely reimagined it, turning the car into a coach-built masterpiece with a striking Shooting Brake design that offers both enhanced performance and practicality. Inspired by the BMW Z3M Coupe’s “Clown Shoe” design, the new roofline provides extra headroom while maintaining the original 2+2 seating layout. The entire body has been replaced with carbon fiber panels, reducing weight and improving structural rigidity. This lightweight material, used extensively across the exterior, allows the Rocket GTS to deliver better handling and quicker acceleration, while the wider body and new bumpers further enhance its road presence. The car rides on staggered 21-inch front and 22-inch rear Monoblock P “Platinum Edition” wheels. A unique feature of these wheels is the integration of exposed carbon aero blades, which actively manage airflow around the wheel arches. As the wheels rotate, the blades channel hot air away from the brakes, improving cooling and reducing the risk of brake fade during high-speed driving. The chassis design complements these high-end wheels by offering a wider track, thanks to the Rocket GTS’s flared fenders. Brabus didn’t just stop at looks—every aerodynamic element has been carefully optimized in a wind tunnel. The flat roofline, ducktail spoiler, and rear diffuser all work together to create significant downforce at speeds exceeding 300 km/h (186 mph), ensuring exceptional stability. Up front, the large air intakes and front apron reduce lift while directing air to cool both the radiators and brakes, contributing to the car’s overall performance. At the rear, the Shooting Brake design takes center stage. The 198.5 cm wide rear section not only gives the Rocket GTS a muscular stance but also improves high-speed cornering stability. The quad carbon-coated titanium exhaust tips, integrated into the rear diffuser, provide both visual drama and a deep, aggressive sound thanks to the active exhaust valve control system. A Hybrid Powertrain Delivering 1,000 HPBrabus goes beyond standard engine tuning by completely rebuilding the Rocket GTS' powertrain. The 4.5-liter twin-turbo V8, increased from its original 4.0-liter displacement, features forged components and upgraded turbochargers, elevating its output to an impressive 796 horsepower. But that’s not where the performance ends. At the rear, a 204-horsepower electric motor, powered by a 6.1 kWh lithium-ion battery, integrates seamlessly with the V8 engine. This hybrid system produces a combined 1,000 horsepower and 1,195 lb-ft of electronically-limited torque. On the road, the Rocket GTS sprints from 0-60 mph in just 2.7 seconds, reaching 120 mph in 9.6 seconds and breaking 186 mph in 23.6 seconds. Its top speed is electronically limited to 197 mph, giving it supercar-level performance figures. Paired with this hybrid setup is a nine-speed automatic transmission, which can be shifted manually via paddles or driven in full automatic mode. The combination of the V8 and electric motor is managed with precision, providing smooth transitions between electric and combustion power while maintaining maximum driver control. To complete the powertrain, Brabus equips the Rocket GTS with a high-performance exhaust system. Featuring advanced catalytic converters and particulate filters, the exhaust optimizes performance while allowing the driver to toggle between a refined or aggressive V8 sound with active exhaust valve control. Custom Interior Design with Added Cargo SpaceWith the taller bodywork and removal of the reclining roof mechanism, the Rocket GTS offers significantly more cargo space than its convertible counterparts. Brabus has outfitted the cabin with its signature Masterpiece craftsmanship, covering the entire interior in a mix of soft leather and Alcantara. The dark theme continues with a combination of slate gray and jet black tones, accentuated by light gray stitching to match the carbon-fiber exterior. To further enhance the sporty feel, carbon fiber trim extends across the steering wheel, doors, and center console, while Shadow Gray accents add a subtle touch of refinement. For customers seeking personalization, Brabus offers a range of customization options. From Alcantara and carbon fiber to Brabus’ distinctive Seashell Diamond quilting pattern, the interior can be tailored to the driver’s individual taste.
