German tuning house 9FF has just announced they're strapping twin turbos to what many consider the holy grail of natural aspiration - the 992-generation GT3, GT3 RS, and even the hallowed 911 S/T. Before the pitchforks come out, here's the clever bit: the entire system is completely reversible. 9FF's new F92 GTurbo kit is entirely bolt-on, meaning owners can return their precious GT3s to factory spec whenever they fancy a more traditional experience. It's like having two cars in one, albeit at a rather eye-watering €49,999 before taxes. The engineering behind this kit is rather fascinating. 9FF claims they've managed to blend the characteristics of a naturally aspirated engine - presumably that spine-tingling response and linear power delivery - with turbo-induced muscle. The setup includes a pair of Garrett G3-770 turbochargers, generously sized wastegates, an intercooler, and the requisite manifolds, intake, and exhaust systems. The numbers are, frankly, staggering. Even at a modest 0.2 bar of boost, you're looking at 750 horsepower. Dial it up to 0.6 bar, and that climbs to 760 horses. Torque is electronically limited to 553 lb-ft - likely to preserve the sanity of whichever gearbox you've chosen, be it the seven-speed PDK or the six-speed manual. To put that performance in perspective, this modified GT3 will blast from 60 to 130 mph in just 5.78 seconds. That's not a typo. And if that somehow isn't enough, 9FF is already working on a 1000-horsepower version, because apparently there are people who think the standard kit is a bit too sensible.
