AC has revealed its first-ever Cobra coupe. The AC Cobra GT Coupe is the second addition to AC's retro-modern lineup. However, the coupe is a more hardcore version with plenty more horses under the hood. It is best for the ones yearning for a vintage-modern Cobra with better weather protection. The AC Cobra GT Coupe is clearly redolent of the Roadster. However, AC says that the Coupe was also partly inspired by the AC A98 Coupe Le Mans race car from 1964. The bodywork remains similar to the original design. However, some details set the new coupe apart from its ancestors. These include redesigned lights, hood scoop, and extra air vents. There are three models on offer. The one showcased here is the most capable "Clubsport" edition. Powering the AC Cobra GT Clubsport Edition is a supercharged V8 with a unique tune. This spec outputs 799 horses and is limited to 99 units. This launch edition will be followed by a mid-spec Cobra GT S Coupe and base GT Coupe. The AC Cobra GT S Coupe will also be powered by a supercharged V8, outputting a lower 720 hp. The base-spec Cobra GT Cobra gets a naturally aspirated 450-hp V8. AC states that the top-of-the-line Cobra GT Clubsport is "road-legal but ready for the track." Prices start at around $416,175 for the base model. Source: AC Cars, Top Gear
