The goal of all this is to overhaul the design, production, and emissions profile of aluminium castings, 100% recycled aluminium to be utilised in the construction of future Astons. The project will leverage cutting-edge technologies such as advanced metal solidification and digital-twin simulations to create low-carbon alloys. These innovations will play a significant role in transforming how aluminium is sourced and used in the manufacturing process. It will also help in reducing the weight of vehicles which in turn improves performance. It’s worth noting this isn’t Aston Martin’s first collaboration with the Advanced Propulsion Centre UK as last year, the company backed their electrification program. According to Roberto Fedeli, Aston Martin’s Group Chief Technology Officer, the APC funding provides critical momentum for Project PIVOT: "This grant will help us push the boundaries of sustainable manufacturing, ensuring that future Aston Martin models will be lighter, greener, and more efficient."
