Bentley’s High-Performance Hybrid Range As we are aware the Continental range i.e. GT, GTC and Flying Spur are all now fully hybridised. The 208mph Speed variants were unveiled to the public in 2024, with their 4.0l V8s combined with Electric Motors to generate 771 horsepower, 738 lb-ft of torque and a range of 534 miles. And just a year later came the High-Performance Hybrid range. These standard variants also featured a 4.0l twin-turbo V8 working in tandem with a 25.9 kWh Electric Motor. However power and torque were down to 671 horsepower and 686 lb-ft of torque, however range increased to 550 miles and the top speed was maintained at 208mph. Overall, in my opinion, these cars are superior to their Speed alternatives. Azure Finishes To showcase this range at its best, Bentley showcased each model in their Azure finish. From the Exterior this sees the options of either a new Vertical grille or a black matrix grille with chrome surround, exclusive 22-inch wheels, a panoramic glass roof and subtle Azure badging. Inside, the range features “Wellness Seating” with heating, ventilation, neck warmers and massaging functions. Paired with cabin air ionisers, mood lighting, bespoke diamond quilting and the options of Touring, Comfort, and Lighting Packs to ensure the long grand-tours owners would take in these were a joy. Bentayga EWB Azure: Bentley’s Wellness Flagship in Sapphire Hues On a much more conventional route, also on display with this new entry-level range was a Bentley Bentayga EWB. This 550 horsepower 4.0l twin-turbo V8 extended wheelbase SUV was certainly refreshing alongside these new-age hybrid luxury GTs and limos. Even if it is a lot less attractive. However, Bentley have somewhat improved the styling with a beautiful Nīla Blue Livery, a bespoke shade inspired by British designer Supriya Lele. Inside the Bentayga EWB Azure ensures low levels of noise, vibration and harshness as well as providing 22-way adjustable seats with heating and ventilation. All of which are part of its multisensory experience to relax the occupants. And to make this car extra special, Bentley now offers 24 billion trim combinations for the Bentayga EWB Azure. This is to ensure the owner who receives it customises it to their own bespoke spec and taste. Bentley’s Future in the Chinese Luxury Market Bentley is currently pushing forward its Beyond100+ vision, a vision that sees them want to be the leader in sustainable automotive construction. A vision that would hopefully fit in well with the brand’s growth in the luxury Chinese market. Hopefully, this new range of sustainable Continentals will convince Chinese buyers they don’t need to destroy bamboo forests for their Honqis. Because a Bentley Continental is worth ten of those.
