Three months after the Bodo coupe, Brabus has revealed the open-top Bodo Cabriolet at Pebble Beach during Monterey Car Week, limited to 77 examples like the hardtop.Built on Aston Martin Vanquish mechanicals, its 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 is tuned to 986 horsepower and 885 pound-feet, good for 0 to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds and a 223 mph top speed.Pricing sits just over 1.24 million dollars, and the first customer coupe has already been delivered in Dubai wearing dark green exposed carbon. Brabus built its name making Mercedes-Benz products louder, faster and considerably more menacing. But for its first proper coachbuilt car, named Bodo after the company's late founder, it did something unexpected: it started with an Aston Martin Vanquish. Now, three months after the coupe broke cover, the roof has come off. The Bodo Cabriolet made its public debut at Pebble Beach on Aug. 14, right in the thick of Monterey Car Week. It is an extraordinary looking thing, impossibly long and sleek, with seating for four and a fabric roof woven with a large 77 graphic marking the year Brabus was founded. Fittingly, 77 is also how many cabriolets will be built, matching the coupe run exactly. Vanquish Bones, Brabus Muscle and a Dubai Connection Under that endless hood sits Aston's twin-turbocharged 5.2-liter V12, reworked by Brabus to produce 986 horsepower and 885 pound-feet of torque, comfortably beyond the 823 horses and 738 pound-feet of the standard Vanquish. The claims are suitably absurd: 0 to 62 mph in 3.0 seconds, 0 to 186 mph in 23.9 seconds and a top speed of 223 mph, which in a convertible amounts to a hurricane with leather seats. The rest of the hardware follows the Aston template, with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic driving the rear wheels through an electronically controlled differential. The car rides on 22-inch Brabus monoblock forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero PZ5 tires, and a front and rear lift system raises the body by an inch when speed bumps threaten. The carbon fiber body stretches 199.3 inches, nearly seven inches longer than the Vanquish, and spans 79.8 inches in width, almost two inches wider. An extendable rear spoiler doubles as an air brake, and an illuminated Brabus logo glows between the LED taillights. Two show cars appeared at the reveal, one black over brown with a black roof, the other off-white with a matching interior.The price is quoted at just over 1.24 million dollars, and there is a satisfying regional footnote to all this. The very first customer Bodo coupe has already been built and delivered right here in Dubai, finished in dark green exposed carbon with matching wheels and a green leather cabin. The world's wildest Vanquish, it turns out, found its first home in the UAE. Of course it did.
