Bugatti has refined the Chiron, unveiling the Sport version of its remarkable 1,500 PS super sports car just two years after its debut at the 2018 Geneva International Motor Show. At that same prestigious venue, the renowned French luxury brand introduced the Chiron Sport, boasting significantly enhanced handling and agility without any compromise on power or performance. To achieve this, Bugatti engineered a dynamic handling package and managed to shed approximately 18 kilograms from the car's weight. Consequently, the Chiron Sport achieves higher cornering speeds and can conquer the Nardò handling circuit in the south of Italy a full five seconds faster than its predecessor, the Chiron. The primary visual distinctions between the Chiron Sport and the standard version include a fresh wheel design and an updated four-pipe exhaust deflector.“We have developed the Chiron Sport for customers wanting an even sportier driving experience with their Chiron, with improved lateral dynamics on winding roads,” says Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. “What was important for us was to leave unchanged the unique character of the Chiron, its combination of ultimate performance, longitudinal acceleration and maximum speed with luxury, comfort and everyday usability.”Check out the Bugatti Chiron Sport for sale at F1rst Motors The most significant change: 18 Kg Weight Reduction The key enhancement contributing to the Chiron Sport's agility is the reduction in weight, approximately 18 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. This achievement is attributed to the incorporation of new lightweight components. Significant weight savings were achieved through the utilization of lightweight wheels, increased usage of carbon fiber, including components such as the stabilizer and intercooler cover, and the introduction of lighter glass in the rear window and exhaust deflector.Consequently, the Chiron Sport exhibits heightened responsiveness and enhanced cornering capabilities. During testing on the challenging Nardò test circuit, Bugatti developers observed a remarkable lap time improvement of five seconds compared to the base Chiron model. The design of the Nardò circuit is particularly suited as a benchmark track for the Chiron, allowing the super sports car to unleash its full potential, even at cornering speeds exceeding 200 km/h. Performance: same as Bugatti Chiron At the heart of the Bugatti Chiron Sport lies an extraordinary 8.0-liter W-16 quad-turbocharged engine, a marvel of engineering prowess. Paired with a seamless 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, this powerhouse delivers an exhilarating driving experience. With a staggering maximum power output of 1500 horsepower and an awe-inspiring maximum torque of 1600 Nm, the Chiron Sport catapults from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a mere 2.4 seconds, showcasing its blistering acceleration capabilities. Yet, the Chiron Sport's performance prowess extends far beyond straight-line acceleration. With a maximum speed of 420 km/h (261 mph), it dominates the road with unparalleled velocity.Embodying a bold sporting character, the Chiron Sport boasts refined racing touches, notably exemplified by the distinctive new four-pipe exhaust layout and a specific lower deflector, which amplifies its dynamic presence. Bugatti engineers refined the car's suspension, implementing a stiffer setup to elevate its performance. This includes a revamped control strategy for the shock absorbers, resulting in a 10 percent increase in stiffness compared to the standard Chiron. The steering system has also undergone modifications to maintain its exceptional responsiveness and predictability, ensuring an unparalleled driving experience. These adjustments are specifically tailored for the Handling mode of the Chiron Sport, providing drivers with a more distinct differentiation from the EB mode. Furthermore, the rear-axle differential has been fine-tuned, complemented by the integration of a Dynamic Torque Vectoring function. This innovative feature intelligently allocates torque to individual wheels on each side, significantly enhancing the vehicle's steering response and agility, particularly in tight corners. Notably, this enhancement is effective across all driving modes, ensuring a consistently dynamic driving experience. For the First time: carbon fiber windscreen wiper in Bugatti Chiron Sport Bugatti has achieved a remarkable feat in automotive engineering with the development of carbon fiber windscreen wiper arms for the Chiron Sport, marking a significant technological advancement. This pioneering innovation establishes the Chiron Sport as the first production car to boast windscreen wiper arms crafted entirely from carbon fiber. A notable departure from conventional wipers, these carbon fiber arms eliminate the need for articulated joints typically found in traditional wiper designs. Instead, Bugatti seamlessly integrates the functionality of these joints into the carbon fiber structure of the wiper arms, showcasing a seamless blend of form and function. Moreover, the wiper arm tips, crafted from aluminum, undergo a weight-saving 3-D printing process, further contributing to the overall reduction in weight. This innovative approach results in the new carbon fiber wipers being an impressive 77 percent lighter than their predecessors, weighing just 1.4 kg. Chiron "Sport" logoThe Chiron Sport distinguishes itself from its counterpart, the Chiron, through notable design enhancements, readily identifiable at first glance. Featuring striking "Course" alloy wheel rims and a redesigned exhaust deflector adorned with four round tailpipes, the Chiron Sport exudes a distinctive aesthetic.Furthermore, several design elements serve to underscore Chiron Sport's unique identity. The engine starter button and driving mode selector knob on the steering wheel boasts an anodized black finish, lending a sleek and sophisticated touch. Additionally, the "Sport" logo on the door sill strips and an insert on the central console featuring an embroidered "Chiron Sport" logo further accentuate the model's exclusive appeal. In conclusion, the Bugatti Chiron Sport stands as a testament to automotive innovation and excellence, seamlessly merging groundbreaking engineering with uncompromising luxury. From its awe-inspiring quad-turbocharged engine to its lightning-fast acceleration and formidable top speed, every aspect of the Chiron Sport is meticulously crafted to offer an unparalleled driving experience.
