Recapping the GTS: The most unique exotic car on sale When the McLaren GT was launched in 2019, it managed to pull off the impossible. Its mid-engine stance gave it the sharpness and tactfulness of a full-on supercar. Yet with its carbon fibre rear deck, softened suspension, and glazed tailgate, it had the refinement and capabilities of a long-legged grand tourer. In 2023, McLaren tweaked the GT to create the GTS, virtually the same car but with some minor improvements. The GTS was 10kg lighter than the outgoing GT (1520kg vs 1530kg) thanks to an advanced monocoque. In addition, the 4.0L Twin–Turbocharged V8 was tweaked to produce 14 more horsepower (635hp vs 612hp). The result was 0–62mph in just 3 seconds and a top speed of 203mph. And thanks to its mid-engine stance and hydraulic steering, it corners with more precision and delight than a Mazda MX-5. Not to mention the Carbon Ceramic brakes halt the car as quickly as the twin-turbo V8 propels it forward. However, the best aspect of the GTS is its ability to be both Jekyll and Hyde. Put it in comfort mode and it becomes a subdued, reserved, and practical cruiser. Not to mention the Pro-active Chassis II results in an extremely comfortable ride. All this car for a very reasonable $224,000. Just a month ago, the GTS debuted at McLaren Abu Dhabi for its first launch in the Middle East. Plus it came with a three-year vehicle and paint warranty with unlimited mileage and a ten-year anti-perforation warranty. McLaren also offered a 12-year extended warranty should customers choose. First Owner in the Middle East: Sunil Meerasa The first lucky owner to own this truly capable car in the Middle East is UAE-based businessman and supercar enthusiast Sunil Meerasa. Meerasa purchased a Ventura Orange GTS from McLaren Dubai, the largest official McLaren dealership in the world. "McLaren represents a unique combination of performance, heritage, and exclusivity," said Meerasa. "I chose the GTS for its remarkable performance, luxurious interior, and sleek exterior design. The Ventura Orange truly makes it one of a kind, and the driving experience is unparalleled. It’s the perfect blend of comfort and sportiness." The First of Many Meerasa’s excitement merely represents what will be expected when more fortunate owners take delivery of their GTS. These owners have the complete package with this car. A car that can cruise around Jumeirah Beach one day and then rocket up Jebel Jais another. With its blend of luxury and high performance, the GTS sums up the Motoring Culture in the Middle East to a T. Source: Economy Middle East
