Regional Showcases for the Middle East: A Taste of Present and Future Porsche has not been short of revealing new and exciting models in 2024, and this event will see several of their more beloved models make their debut in the Middle East. For starters, the new recycled Taycan GTS will make its regional display, with power up from 590hp to 690hp. In addition, the 1019 horsepower Taycan Turbo GT, Porsche’s most powerful road car, will also debut. Those wanting something more old-school will be delighted to know that the recently unveiled 992.2 Carrera T will also make its regional debut. This manual, slowest variant of the world’s most iconic sports car has often been praised for its more back-to-basics drive at a fairly reasonable price of $140,000. But undoubtedly the car everyone is most looking forward to is the 9000rpm, 503 horsepower, 4.0l, naturally-aspirated flat-6 wailing road racer known as the 992.2 GT3. This car will be available in both Touring form and regular winged configurations, only this time with an additional Weissach package. Be sure to get your credit cards at the ready. Stars from the Museum, Porsche’s Finest Of course, as well as many regional launches, this event also sees many famous historical models from the Porsche Museum of Stuttgart, Germany. The first of which is the final 944 Turbo Cabriolet built in 1991, with only 528 examples existing out of the 180,000 944s constructed between 1981 and 1991. The next car is a 1982 956, their world endurance LeMans Endurance that debuted that same year. Powered by a 2.6l turbocharged flat 6, this 650-horsepower monster dominated the race, with a 1-2-3 finish. And with a time of 6:11.13 around the Nürburgring, a record that would stand for 35 years. Alongside is its successor, a 1986 962. A car that’s turbocharged Flat-6 upgraded to 2.8l with 700 horsepower on tap. This car also dominated the 24 hours of LeMans winning in both 1986 and 1987, achieving 217mph down the main straight. To cap off the racing legends is a 1998 911 GT1. Potentially the most unique 911 ever built, this 3.2l twin-turbocharged, 600 horsepower monster came third in the 1998 Silverstone 500km race. Its spec by Zakspeed is identical to that of the 1998 LeMans Champion. Finally, there will be a 2023 992.1 Targa 4S customised by Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, which features a heritage-based design. There’s no denying all these cars are legends in their own right, but there’s one factor they all share, the use of turbocharged engines. Celebrating 50 Years of the 911 Turbo All of this is because 2024 marks 50 years since the original 911 Turbo debuted to the world. And to celebrate this occasion, there will be a parade 911 Turbos, a fair few specialised 911 Turbos from Porsche themselves. The first is a 1988 G-Series 911 Turbo which looked identical to the previous 930 Turbo however became the first 911 to combine the newly uprated 300 horsepower 3.3L twin-turbocharged Flat-6 with a 5-speed manual gearbox. The result was 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds and a top speed of 162mph. The second standout is that car’s successor, a 1993 3.6l twin-turbocharged 964 Turbo that brought about several advancements over the original. Most notably in performance this car now produced 360 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque. The result was a 0-62mph spring of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 174mph. Finally, Porsche will be auctioning off a one-of-a-kind variant of the 992 Turbo S called the 911 Turbo Remastered via RM Sotheby's, which features elements from all generations of 911 Turbo. The auction will go live on Wednesday 20th and will conclude on Tuesday 26th. All these cars embody the evolution of the 911 Turbo before it undoubtedly goes down a hybrid route for its next generation. Other Special Features: Famous Porsche Racers and Collectors The championship will also feature Motor Sport legends like Jörg Bergmeister and Pascal Wehrlein the latter of whom will showcase his Formula E championship-winning Porsche 99X Electric. In addition, ex-Formula 1 driver, Porsche racer and media presenter Mark Webber will also be in attendance. Along with famous Porsche collector Tom Exton i.e. TGE and famous media engineer Jowana Burgan will also be in attendance at this event. Overall, with a collection of famous cars, and Porsche aficionados, This event won’t just celebrate Porsche’s impact in the Middle East or the 50 years of the 911 Turbo.
