But then they went ahead and threw in an 800-hp electric motor—built in-house and ominously named "Dark Matter"—to power the front axle. That brings the total output into territory most hypercars never reach. The real story, though, is how all that power gets to the wheels. Instead of a traditional transmission, the Gemera uses Koenigsegg’s Tourbillon unit, a nine-speed setup derived from the Jesko’s Light Speed Transmission. It works differently from anything you’ll find in a regular AWD system. Koenigsegg ditched the conventional differential entirely. Instead, they use a cassette-based system, which wraps around the engine and moves power to the rear wheels. Up front, a bevel gear and hydraulic clutch setup handle torque distribution, but not in the way you’d expect. There’s no bulky central differential housing—just separate components working together to achieve the same result, only faster and with less weight. And it’s not just about putting power down.
