The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut: The Ultimate Speed Machine Read More 8 Fascinating Facts about the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack Odin The Jesko is Koenigsegg’s fourth official production hypercar following the CC, Agera and Regera. Named after Christian von Koenigsegg’s father, Jesko Von Koenigsegg, the car is powered by the same 5.1L Twin Turbocharged V8 found in the Agera. However, the engine was reworked with a flat plane crankshaft, rubber mounts from the Regera, two twenty-litre air tanks which feed 290psi of pressure to reduce turbo lag and an electric compressor. The Jesko produces 1600 horsepower when fuelled with E85 fuel and 1280 horsepower as standard with 1,106 lb-ft of torque. This power is sent directly to the rear wheels via a 9-speed light-speed gearbox. The Jesko comes in two variants. One is the track-focused Attack, which features a larger rear wing which produces 1400kg of downforce. 125 Jeskos will be built, and a majority of these will be Attack variants. However, the focus today will be on the more speed-focused Absolut. This features the same body, chassis, engine, gearbox and power output as the Absolut, but features two rear fins and a front splitter as opposed to the enormous rear wing. The result is a drag coefficient of 0.278 and an estimated top speed of 310mph. Last year, the Jesko Absolut set an incredible 0-250mph-0 record of 28.27 seconds. The Rimac Nevera R: The Former King Three years ago, Rimac launched the Nevera, the second hypercar produced by the recent Croatian hypercar maker Rimac Automobili. 150 of these will be built, which features four 120kWh electric motors that produce 1,914 horsepower and 1,741 lb-ft of torque. The result is 0-62mph in a neck-snapping 1.85 seconds and maxes out at an incredible 258mph. It also features more active aerodynamics as well as active cooling systems. Last year, Rimac launched the R, a more hardcore, lighter variant of the Nevera. Only 40 of these were built with an updated electric drivetrain, which produces 2107 horsepower and 1,726 lb-ft of torque. The result is 0-62mph in 1.66 seconds and a much higher top speed of 268.2mph. The Nevera R features a redesigned aerodynamic package with a fixed rear wing and enlarged diffuser. This boosts downforce by 15% and improves efficiency by 10%. The car also features Michelin Cup 2 Tyres and advanced torque vectoring to enhance grip. Since 2025, Nevera R has set a total of 24 new world records, all independently verified by Dewesoft. Its most recent run was the incredible 0-250mph-0 record at just 25.79 seconds. A record that was nearly 3 seconds quicker than the Jesko Absolut. The Record Run: Why it's Special? However, recently Koenigsegg have reclaimed the title from the Nevera R. The run took place at Örebro airfield. The car was driven by Marcus Lundh, who piloted the Jesko after a rain shower, creating a wet runway. It then dried up, conditions which founder Christian von Koenigsegg described as sub-optima, which were verified by Racelogic. The result of this is an incredible 0-250mph-0 record time of 25.21 seconds, 0.58 seconds faster than the Nevera R. This incredible achievement is not only incredible, once again verifying Koenigsegg as the record-breaking kings, but also for what powers it and the subsequent performance. Let’s not forget, the Jesko is powered by a 5.1L Twin-Turbo V8, while the Nevera R uses four electric motors. The fact that the petrol-powered old-school dinosaur is quicker than the all-electric Terminator speaks volumes. And considering the Nevera R produces almost 500 more horsepower, over 600lb-ft more torque and accelerates from 0-62mph of 1 whole second. This isn’t just a victory for Koenigsegg but a victory for the Internal Combustion Engine.
