Lamborghini’s Unique Take on Hypercars Lamborghini have a unique approach to their limited-run million-dollar hypercars. Most manufacturers who build hypercars bill them as their ultimate. The next evolution that are significantly faster, more advanced, and more jaw-dropping than their current range of already dramatic and striking supercars. Lamborghini have never done this. Their first official hypercar, the million-dollar Reventon launched in 2007 looked like the ideal rival for the Pagani Zonda, Koenigsegg CCX and Bugatti Veyron. However, in reality, underneath, it shared the same engine, chassis and gearbox as the much less expensive and more available Murcielago LP640-4. The same could be said about the Veneno and Centenario. Both look striking and wild but underneath their Jet-Fighter bodies, they’re Aventadors. Even the Sian that introduced Supercapacitors and was Lambos’s first supposed hybrid, still shared the same gearbox, chassis and steering as the then 10-year-old Aventador. Despite being far from the greatest hypercars, Lamborghini’s Commercial Director Federico Foschini describes them as at the "top of the pyramid." Their rarity and their fighter-jet styling are what appeals to them, despite their lack of improved performance. They kind of sum up Lamborghini and Lambo owners in general, all style, no substance. Lamborghini Fenomeno: The Next Step in Hypercar Evolution The Fenomono is Lamborghini’s latest multi-million-dollar hypercar that is set to make its appearance at Monterey Car Week 2025. Lamborghini states that this new car will be a breath-taking display of design, appropriate given its name “Fenomeno” meaning “phenomenon” in Italian and Spanish. This was trademarked earlier this year. Underneath this car will be heavily based on the Revuelto. However whether it will be a total plug-in hybrid like that vehicle remains to be seen. Some rumours state it will be a back-to-basics approach making it more of a track car, whilst others say it will use a new type of hybrid. Either way, the only certainty, is that like all of Lambo’s hypercars, it will feature the massive and glorious 6.5l V12. Because a big-shouty ludicrous Lambo without a V12 is like a Hawaiian Beach without the sun. Illicit beyond words. CEO Stephan Winkelmann has voiced concerns about fully electric supercars, especially in the luxury segment. “The more expensive the car, the less willing people are to go fully electric,” he noted. Design and Technology Expectations for the Lamborghini Fenomeno There’s only been a teaser so far, but like any great Lambo, it’s expected to look as manic and crazy as all the great Lambos. Active rear wings, aerodynamics, 3-D components, forged composites and possibly a photochromic roof. This car is a showcase of what happens when Lamborghini goes completely unplugged.
