Why the Revuelto is the perfect supercar In the current climate, there are two types of mid-engine dream machines. Most are technical wizard houses featuring ground-breaking aerodynamics and electric motors connected to turbocharged V6 engines. They are so advanced they make an F35 Lightning II look like a steam train. On the other hand, you have a minority that are purely powered by Internal combustion engines. These non-hybridised supercars are a dying breed and will probably die out within the next two years. Not to mention, a majority of these are turbocharged just to keep up with the current crop. That’s why the Lamborghini Revuelto is the world’s ultimate supercar. On the one hand, it features many advanced features. Three electric motors connected to its engine, an 8–speed dual-clutch gearbox, an active rear spoiler, rear-wheel steering and a revolutionary carbon fibre monocoque chassis. However, unlike its baby brother, the Temerario, it still has plenty of old-school Lambo charm. Styling that is as mental and wild as any previous Lambo and a gargantuan thirsty 6.5L naturally aspirated V12, that together with the EV motors, delivers 1,015 horsepower and 730 lb-ft of torque. The result is 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 217mph. All while indulging in that bellowing V12 symphony. It is a perfect blend of Lambo wildness and childish antics with proper modernised tech. It’s a Batmobile that shouldn’t’ go wrong ever. Or rather that’s what they hoped because a recent recall reveals all those Lambo gremlins have resurfaced. A Faulty Windshield Wiper: A Crash is Imminent In October 2024, Lamborghini issued a recall for the Revuelto, specifically targeting models from the 2024 model year. In total, 455 Revueltos in the US were recalled due to an issue with the Windscreen wiper. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) detailed this issue. Apparently, the rod connecting the wiper motor to the passenger-side windshield wiper may bent or detached. This leads to a malfunctioning wiper, which poses a significant hazard, especially in bad weather, where loss of visibility could spell disaster. This is after all a 1015-horsepower monster, the last thing you want is to not see where you’re going. Following the NHTSA report, Lamborghini have since identified the issue during factor inspections and come out with a solution. Replacing the faulty wiper arm connecting rod with a much stronger version, so it operates as intended. Globally, Lambo have received six warranty claims related to the windshield wiper issue and have made plans to notify affected owners through official letters starting in December 2024. Owners will also receive notifications through the Lamborghini app. Best of all, Lambo is providing this service free of charge to all affected Revuelto owners. Dealers will perform the necessary repairs as soon as parts are available, ensuring every Revuelto remains in peak condition. But it seems that’s not the only issue plaguing Lambo’s new flagship. Recently in New York, a brand-new Revuelto spontaneously caught fire. The car was owned by Ethan Duran, owner of Corsa Auto Group and had only clocked 108 miles before it burst into flames. As of yet, the cause of the fire remains unclear, with no confirmation on whether the electric motors, battery system or a potential fuel leak was responsible. Faulty: Of course it is, it’s a V12 Lambo after all Now of course such a drastic fault would probably put anyone off spending over $600,000 on their dream V12 Lambo. But here’s the thing, V12 Lambos have always had faults. In fact alongside their wild styling and explosive naturally aspirated V12s, what truly defines a true Lambo is its many flaws. The Miura tended to take off beyond 90mph. The Countach had steering laid in concrete, minuscule windows and no visibility whatsoever. The Diablo was Spanish for Devil because it sought new and violent ways of killing you. The Murcielago had the most flawed four-wheel drive system ever fitted to a car. And the Aventador had possibly the worst gearbox ever fitted to a car minus the Aston Martin Vanquish. The Revuelto on the surface appears to repair most of the errors, but clearly with these recalls and fires it too is flawed beyond belief. But you know what, that’s what you want. Lambos are not meant to be easy and tame, they’re meant to be ferocious and daft and full of character. And with its screaming V12, jet-fighter styling and now is it turns out a high number of faults, the Revuelto certainly is all that. It is in essence then a true, daft and yet adorable V12 Lambo.
