How the Temerario Breathes New Life into the Raging Bull Ever since its debut in August the Temerario has divided opinions amongst Lambo fans, certainly, it is the most out-there supercar in the Raging Bull’s 61-year-long history, introducing all new features that have never been seen before. It’s the first Lamborghini supercar to be turbocharged, using a brand 4.0l twin-turbo V8 instead of the naturally aspirated V10 screamer of both the Gallardo and Huracan its predecessors. In addition, it has a triad of electric motors. All of these combined produce a stratospheric 920 horsepower and nearly enough 600 lb-ft of torque. This combined with the four-wheel drive system and the super-shifting 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox means the Temerario sprints from 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and tops out at an impressive 212mph. In addition, the Temerario has over 13 different driving modes. In its standard setting, there are three core modes, Recharge, Hybrid and Performance. But change to Sport or Corsa and these modes amalgamate into one. There’s even a drift option should you want things to become more bombastic, i.e. more Lamboish. Lambo also claims that despite it being turbocharged none of the dramatic soundtrack of Lambos of old has been lost. The twin-turbo V8 is modified with a flat-plane crankshaft, usually reserved for racing cars and as a result, Lambo claims the Temerario redlines at 10,000rpm. However, despite all the recent innovations from the car, the reception to the Temerario has been lukewarm. Many believe it lacks the soul and drama of a true Lambo, and that recent video at the Nürburgring only verifies this pointer, with the car sounding muted. Something criminal in a Lamborghini An Event like No Other in London The Temerario’s big European Unveiling was held at the iconic Ladbroke Hall in West London. This historic event provided attendees with a first look at Lamborghini’s controversial new supercar. In total 700 customers were in attendance from most of Europe including the UK, France, Spain, Portugal, Scandinavia, and Turkey. Also in attendance were Lamborghini’s CEO and President, Stephan Winkelmann and Rouven Mohr, along with two Temerario variants. The standard model in Blu Marinus and a new version in Verde Mercurius called the track-focused Alleggerita version. In addition, the customisable Ad Personam program ensures each Temerario is tailored perfectly. The Alleggerita Kit and Other Innovative Features For enthusiasts who crave even more performance, Lamborghini now offers a track-focused version called the Temerario Alleggerita. Alleggerita stands for lightened and thanks to excess carbon fibre, this weighs 25kg less than the regular Temerario. In addition, the car has improved aerodynamics over the standard model, with a 158% increase over the standard Temerario. Other unique factors that were learnt include the fact this car behaves like various iterations of past models in different driving modes. And that despite being a hybrid, the front boot is bigger than it was on the Huracan. And according to Mohr, a future STO Temerario Variant could have over 1,000 horsepower. Creating More Excitement around a Relatively Mixed Supercar There’s no denying that the Temerario is a mixed bag offering many innovations that are both welcomed and not so much by buyers and fans. But hopefully learning new factors like the Alleggerita Kit could make this car all the more desirable. Overall though, one thing remains apparent, the biggest test for this car will be one question.
