How the Temerario Breathes New Life into the Raging Bull Ever since its debut in August the Temerario has divided opinions amongst Lambo aficionados like yours truly. It is the first of Lamborghini’s mid-engine dream machines to feature a brand new 4.0l twin-turbo flat-plane crank V8, which like its big brother the Revuelto, is mated to a triad of electric motors. From an engineering perspective, it appears quite the piece of weaponry. Not only does it rev to 10,000rpm, but it generates a monstrous 920 horsepower and 600 lb-ft of torque. All this power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox. The result of all this is 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 212mph. In its standard setting, there are three core modes, Recharge, Hybrid and Performance. But change to Sport or Corsa and these modes amalgamate into one. There’s even a drift option should you want things to become more bombastic, i.e. more Lamboish. The car will start from $325,000, around the same as its chief rival the Ferrari 296. But if you want extra performance, Lambo will sell you the optional Alleggerita pack which reduces weight by 25kg and increases aerodynamics by 158%. No doubt it will humiliate hypercars costing three times as much. However, there are two points of concern. For one the styling appears subdued and restrained and for another the soundtrack, despite the 10,000rpm redline, appears muted. This would be ok in most ordinary cars, hell most supercars can get away with this, but for a Lamborghini, a brand known for being bombastic and obnoxious, this seems improper. The Event in Paris The Temerario made its dramatic debut at L’Élysée-Montmartre, an iconic music theatre in Paris. Ten dancers in costumes, that featured glowing LEDs and flowing lines inspired by Lamborghini’s signature hexagonal design were the first stage of the event. An event that was showcased to journalists, enthusiasts, and select VIPs. After this Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini’s Chairman and CEO, alongside Product Line Director Paolo Racchetti, introduced the Temerario in its Allegrita spec to the audience. Overall, this event was as bombastic and out there as Lamborghini themselves. Ironically, this whole event is more of a standout than the Temerario itself.
