Lamborghini Temerario: Lambo’s Performance Benchmark I believe I’ve spoken about the Lamborghini Temerario more than any other car on this site. At this rate, I deserve to be invited to the press drives. There’s no denying this is a controversial supercar. Most notably for its subdued styling and its muted soundtrack, two things that are completely unheard of when it comes to the bombastic raging bull brand. But what this car lacks in theatre, there’s no denying it makes up for in performance. The performance Lambo state for this thing boggles the mind. Instead of the iconic and much loved 5.2l Naturally Aspirated V10, this car features a brand new 4.0l twin-turbo flat-plane-crank V8 combined with a triad of electric motors. The results are simply mind-boggling 920 horsepower, 600 lb-ft of torque, 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 212mph and a redline at 10,000rpm. But if that isn’t enough, Lambo offers the optional Alleggerita pack which will result in a 25kg loss in weight and a 158% increase in aerodynamics. The Temerario also features over 13 different driving modes, which in Corsa all amalgamate to deliver maximum instant performance. Hot take, I believe that this car will be faster than the Revuelto and most modern hypercars. Which all in all, makes its $325,000 asking price seem good value. In fact, the perfect value-for-money performance benchmark. Or is it? Ducati Panigale V4: Ducati’s Old-School Two-Wheeled Contrast to the Temerario Read More Lamborghini Temerario is put through the wringer by Andrea Caldarelli The Ducati Panigale V4 is a high-performance member of Ducati’s iconic Panigale range that was launched in 2011. Launched in 2018, this features a 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine which produces 216 horsepower and 91.2 lb-ft of torque. Significantly less than the Temerario but let’s not forget, this thing weighs 174kg. So despite the 202mph top speed of the V4, the 0–60mph of 2.5 seconds proves its level-pegging with the Temerario That being said, unlike the Temerario which is a technical tour de force, the V4 is far more old-school. The only way to get the best out of it is through the skill of the rider. But as a result, one could argue it's far more exciting than the Lambo and a lot cheaper. The V4 comes in many guises such as the V4 S, Speciale, Superleggera and R, but it starts at a very reasonable $31,000. That means you could buy 10 V4s for the price of one base-spec Temerario. But is it necessarily quicker? The Photo Finish: What does this tell us So what happened when these two high-performance monsters went head to head? Well, the four-wheel drive and instant hybrid boost of the Temerario meant it sprinted ahead initially. But with a far superior power-to-weight ratio, the V4 came back into the running. And the end result was a dead heat, a completely even-matched image. Now from a value perspective, you could give this to the V4, costing a tenth as much as the Temerario yet matching it in performance. But the simple fact has always been that a superbike always looks good value compared to a supercar. It’s what you don’t see that matters. And at the end of the day, you can jump into your Temerario without changing into racing overalls and when it rains you have four-wheel-drive and an actual roof, things you don’t get on the V4. So really it’s your choice, supercar or superbike. Hopefully we at F1rstMotors can do a full comparison when the Temerario arrives in the Middle East.
