The Blue Oval automaker is aiming for this ultra-high-performance Mustang variant to lap the legendary Nürburgring race circuit in under seven minutes. Only a handful of exotic multi-million dollar hypercars have achieved that staggering feat. But Ford isn't just blindly sending the 2024 Mustang GTD to the 'Ring and hoping for the best. An extensive testing program is well underway at the daunting 12.9-mile German track to ensure the 2024 Mustang GTD has what it takes. Spy videos have captured a black prototype of the 2024 Mustang GTD already ripping around various sectors of the circuit at blistering pace. We also get to hear the spine-tingling sound of the 2024 Mustang GTD's monstrous engine note. Powering this track monster is a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 churning out over 800 ferocious horses. This raucous powerplant is an evolution of the 5.2 V8 used in the previous Shelby GT500, but massaged to produce substantially more power for 2024 Mustang GTD duty.
