Now, the name “Porsche” has long been synonymous with excellence in the automotive space, and the 911 has been the flagship for a while now. While limited-run hypercars like the 918 and Carrera GT have come and gone, the 911 has stayed constant over many decades. And now, the new 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera GTS has been announced, and it’s turning quite a few heads. From the new 2025 Porsche GTS Targa variant, to the engine and top speeds, we have it all in this article. Let’s take a closer look. The 2025 992 GTS Engine Let's start with the heart of the beast: the 2025 911 Carrera Engine. Porsche has taken their already impressive 3.0-liter flat-six and added an electric motor to the mix. The result? A staggering 532 horsepower. That's 150 more than the base new 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera. Link However, that electric motor in the 2025 992 hybrid is not a plug-in variant, and there is no clutch interface between the engine and electric motors. This means that you cannot drive the car solely on electric power, so automotive purists can take refuge in that fact. Note that the engine in the new 2025 911 Carrera GTS is not a twin-turbo, but comes with a single turbocharger. The difference? The turbocharger in the new 992 Carrera GTS is electrified, meaning that it can power a 216-cell, 400-volt battery that can then feed power to an electric motor. And with a top speed of 194 miles per hour, you’ll whip around the ‘ring almost 9 seconds faster than the previous generation.That’s right, the new 2025 911 Carrera GTS models are 8.7 seconds faster around the Nordschleife than the incumbent generations. Unfortunately, though you cannot get the 2025 992 Carrera GTS as a manual transmission anymore, because of that hybrid system. But with that said, the new 911 Carrera GTS cars also get several other updates that are not engine-related. Let’s look at the new 911 Carrera GTS design below. The 2025 992 GTS Design To begin with, the 2025 992 GTS does get a facelift from last year. The most noticeable is that the indicator lights are now integrated into the headlights at the front. This instead is replaced by a regular button starter that you can find, even on cars like a Kia Soul. Also, we lost the analog gauge clusters in the 2025 992 Carrera GTS interior, as Porsche wanted to opt for a digital AIO solution instead. Link You also get carbon fiber inserts on the dashboard above the aircon vents, on the door armrests, and on the center console. Additionally, you do have the no-cost optional upgrade of adding two rear seats to your 2025 992 Carrera GTS. However just bear in mind that this would raise the curb weight of your car, and there is absolutely zero chance of fitting in Porsche’s rear-facing seats on this one. Porsche could certainly have done a better job of covering them up and not making it look like a car with an otherwise flawless design has a day-old zit on its nose.
