Last year, the Rimac Nevera was throned as the fastest production car that is road-legal. It managed to do so by setting a new record at the Good Wood Festival of Speed. The Nevera completed the 1.16-mile hill-climb course in a supersonic 49.32 seconds. However, an American hypercar has not broken this record. Unlike the all-electric Nevera, the new fastest production car is a hybrid. It is the Czinger 21C, an ultra-exclusive hypercar, designed and built in California. The Czinger 21C stormed past the finish line in 48.83 seconds. Although it isn't a mind-blowing difference, in this case, every millisecond matters. The 21C managed to shave off almost a second from Rimac's record. Czinger 21C: The New Fastest Production Car ChampionThe car that broke the fastest production car record, is essentially a newcomer. Czinger Vehicles Inc. is an American hybrid sports car manufacturer, based in Los Angeles, California. The company was founded in 2019, and the 21C is their first product. Powering the Czinger 21C is a 2.88-liter twin-turbocharged V8 motor that screams up to 11,000 rpm. It comes paired with two front-mounted electric motors. The combined output generated is a whopping 1,250 horsepower. Top speed is limited to 219 mph (352.4 kmph). This is the regular 21C model that has now broken the fastest production car record. There are two more iterations of the Czinger 21C: the 21C V Max and the 21C Blackbird. The V Max outputs the same 1,250 hp but can reach speeds up to 253 mph. But, the Blackbird is altogether a meaner machine. It cranks out a higher 1,350 horsepower. Czinger plans to make only 80 examples of the 21C. The range-topping Blackbird is even more exclusive, limited to only four pieces. The fact that Czinger achieved this victory in such a short time is more than impressive. We expect them to break more records and produce more magnificent machines in the future. As of now, congrats to the new fastest production car flag bearer.
