The all-new Porsche Panamera has broken a record at the Nürburgring. It is now the fastest in the "executive cars" segment, beating the Mercedes-AMG GT63 S 4Matic+. The AMG super-sedan stood at 7:27.800. The Panamera obliterated this time by almost three seconds. The new record set by the fiery 4-door Porsche is 7:24.172. This figure is quicker than some venerable supercars, supersonic EVs, and track monsters. These include the mighty Ferrari Enzo and the supersonic Tesla Model S Plaid. Furthermore, the new Panamera is a whole 5.64 seconds faster than its previous generation. Porsche has declared the news on their media website. But, they haven't revealed the specific trim that ran the lap. But they mention that it is the "top model". We expect it to be the top-of-the-line Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. Even so, the Panamera isn't still the fastest 4-door car around the Green Hell. That would be another top-of-the-line Porsche, the all-electric Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Underpinnings Of The Record-Setting Porsche Panamera The Panamera that set the record is a pre-production model. It is quite identical to the production-spec, except for a couple of additions. One is the bucket seat that the driver Lars Kern sat on, and the other is a mandatory roll cage. Other than that, it's just Porsche's engineering wizardry. Porsche hasn't revealed the powertrain specs of the Panamera that ran the lap. But they stated that the Panamera had the new Active Ride adaptive suspension setup. Part of the track-ready specification was the optional carbon fiber aerodynamic body kit. This kit includes a Gurney flap for the four-way adaptive rear wing. Porsche claims this proprietary setup to increase downforce and reduce front-end lift. Of course, the Panamera had its running shoes on. In this case, they were the optional Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. This high-performance rubber was developed specifically for the Panamera. They came wrapped around a set of 21-inch wheels. Lars Kern said that the harmony of all these elements has contributed to this victory. He particularly praised the new Porsche Active Ride chassis.
