Inspiration and Craftsmanship The Spectre LunaFlair takes its inspiration from the optical phenomenon known as a lunar halo. This rare event occurs when moonlight passes through ice particles in high-altitude cirrus clouds. These refract light into a technicolour ring around the moon which results in an ethereal, rainbow-like glow. Imagine light passing through a diamond. The whole idea of this LunaFlair livery came about when one of Rolls’ most loyal clientele saw the bespoke and beautifully painted Phantom Syntopia. This car carried a dark iridescent Liquid Noir finish that was further captivated with a colour-shifting, mirror-like effect. So whilst on the waiting list for their new Spectre they tasked the craftsman at Rolls with embodying this Lunar Beauty. To make a livery inspired by the Syntopia, but with a more luminous expression of the idea. The final result took over a year to develop and perfect after Rolls experimented with multiple combinations of base coats, timings and lacquers. A seven-layer lacquer process involving a specially formulated pearlescent coat being infused with fine flakes of magnesium fluoride and aluminium. These microscopic particles give the paint its deep metallic sheen in low light and burst into rainbow fluorescence in bright light. These bespoke liveries at Rolls-Royce thrive on this creative exchange between cars, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Interior to Match and Exclusivity As with all Rollers, the Spectre LunaFlair’s interior is as impressive as its exterior. Featuring a symphony of Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink tones to reflect the spectrum of hues witnessed during a lunar halo. The iconic Starlight Headliner further enhances the celestial theme. To cap this all off the dual-tone steering wheel with a Navy Blue outer ring and Arctic White inner completes the overall lunar atmosphere. Never before has such detail been sculpted, and likely never again. Only one Spectre LunaFlair will ever be built, and this unique holographic paint finish is reserved exclusively for the commissioning client.
