Porsche is broadening its all-electric sports sedan lineup with the introduction of the Taycan Turbo GT and the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package. While both models represent the pinnacle of electric performance, the latter takes things a step further by catering specifically to track enthusiasts. Before its impressive performance at the Weathertech Raceway Laguna Seca, the Taycan Turbo GT grabbed attention by setting a new class record at the renowned Nürburgring, in a pre-production version. Porsche's top driver, Lars Kern, was at the wheel once again, completing a remarkable lap in just 7 minutes and 7.55 seconds on the challenging Nordschleife circuit. Comparing this feat to Kern's previous record in August 2022 with a Taycan Turbo S Sport sedan equipped with the performance package, the improvement is remarkable. The Taycan Turbo GT has shaved an impressive 26 seconds off the previous record, demonstrating significant advancements in technology and performance. Attack Mode puts Taycan Turbo GT to another level "The track at Laguna Seca pushes the Taycan Turbo GT to the limit. It’s the overall package that makes the difference," says development driver Kern. "The Turbo GT with Weissach package sets new standards in almost every metric. These include acceleration and braking, an Attack Mode that’s intuitive to use and a powertrain designed for maximum traction and performance. And the cornering grip levels are just as impressive. Adding to the adrenaline rush, when triggered, up to 120 kW of additional power is available for 10 seconds at the press of a button. Attack Mode is based on the push-to-pass function of the other Taycan models, enhancing the already exhilarating driving experience of the Turbo GT to even greater heights. Reaching to 100 Km/h in 2.2 seconds! Porsche has recently undertaken a significant upgrade journey for its Taycan model line, heralding a new era of electrifying performance. With a more potent pulse inverter, both models boast an impressive 580 kW under the hood. However, with Launch Control activated, this figure skyrockets to an astounding 760 kW of over-boost power, or a staggering 815 kW for two electrifying seconds, as measured at peak power. When it comes to acceleration, the Taycan Turbo GT leaves spectators in awe, going from zero to 100 km/h in just 2.3 seconds, or an astonishing 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package. This puts the model one to two-tenths of a second ahead of its predecessor, the Taycan Turbo S, thrillingly showcasing its speed and agility. Moreover, the difference in acceleration becomes even more pronounced when reaching 200 km/h, with the Taycan Turbo GT without the Weissach package achieving this milestone in just 6.6 seconds, or a blistering 6.4 seconds with the Weissach package. This remarkable achievement represents a significant improvement, up to 1.3 seconds faster than its Turbo S counterpart, further solidifying the Taycan Turbo GT's position as a true performance powerhouse. The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is all about Carbon Fiber Porsche's drive for performance goes beyond sheer power; it encompasses every facet of the driving encounter, including weight reduction and handling precision. Through a dedicated focus on smart lightweight design, Porsche engineers have managed to trim up to 75 kg from the Taycan Turbo GT compared to its forerunner, the Taycan Turbo S. Carbon fiber is integrated into various parts of the Taycan Turbo GT, from the trims on the B-pillars to the upper shells of the door mirrors and the side skirt inlays. Furthermore, the inclusion of lightweight CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Polymer) full bucket seats, a streamlined luggage compartment, and the omission of the electric soft-closing function on the tailgate all contribute to shedding unnecessary weight, amplifying the car's agility and responsiveness on the road. Setting a benchmark for dynamic performance, the Taycan Turbo GT comes standard with the dynamics package, showcasing Porsche's steadfast commitment to delivering unmatched driving dynamics. At the core of this package is the Porsche Active Ride suspension, finely tuned for GT-specific performance. Enhancing the dynamics package are custom-engineered performance summer tires, fitted onto lightweight 21-inch forged wheels exclusive to the Turbo GT. These wheels boast relief-milled spokes, not only cutting weight but also optimizing brake ventilation, thus amplifying the car's performance prowess. Here comes the Weissach package At the top of the performance ladder sits the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package, a masterpiece of precision engineering and speed. It's all about aerodynamics and keeping things light to make driving truly exhilarating. This model stands out with extra aerodynamic tweaks and weight-saving tricks, making it a force on both roads and tracks. It blasts from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.2 seconds, leaving its Turbo GT sibling a tad behind. With a top speed of 305 km/h, it easily surpasses the 290 km/h limit of its counterpart, proving its dominance. To improve its aerodynamics, the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package adds underbody air deflectors and a new front diffuser. These tweaks help air flow smoothly, keeping the car stable and efficient. At the back, a fixed rear wing in a cool carbon-weave finish not only looks sleek but also generates up to 220 kg of downforce, ensuring a solid grip and stability at high speeds.
