Porsche just raised the bar for electric lap times again. The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package is now the fastest EV to lap Interlagos, São Paulo, setting a 1:42.1-minute time on 5 February 2025. That’s nearly eight seconds faster than the Taycan Turbo S managed in 2022 and just a fraction quicker than the 911 Turbo S. It’s Porsche’s fourth lap record for the Taycan Turbo GT, adding Interlagos to a growing list that already includes the Nürburgring, Shanghai, and Laguna Seca. The lap was set by Felipe Nasr, fresh off a Daytona 24 Hours victory with Porsche’s 963 GTP team. A three-time IMSA champion, Nasr pushed the near-5,000-pound Taycan through Interlagos’ fast, twisting sections, shaving seconds off the previous best. For context, the fastest gas-powered road car around Interlagos is the 911 GT2 RS with a Manthey Racing kit, which clocked 1:36.967 last year. On the exit of 'Curva do Sol', I was already reaching more than 200 km/h coming onto the back straight. It's amazing how brutally the car accelerates and delivers its power." "The steering of the Taycan Turbo GT was very precise in the slow corners and remained stable even under heavy braking. The balance, the grip – a real performance machine," he added. Interlagos is just the latest addition to the Taycan Turbo GT’s growing list of lap records. Lars Kern, Porsche’s go-to development driver, has already stamped its name on some of the toughest circuits out there. • Shanghai International Circuit (October 2024) – 2:11.28 minutes, the first officially recognized lap record at the track.• WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca (Spring 2024) – 1:27.87 minutes, the fastest lap ever set by a road-legal EV at the California circuit.• Nürburgring Nordschleife (Early 2024, pre-production model) – 7:07.55 minutes, slashing 26 seconds off the previous Taycan Turbo S record. Each track is different—some fast, some tight, some brutal on tires. But the Taycan Turbo GT keeps proving it can handle them all. Taycan Turbo GT Uses Formula E Tech to Chase Lap Records The Taycan Turbo GT is a hardcore track performance machine. Tap the right-hand paddle, and for 10 seconds, you’re holding onto 1,019 horsepower. Hit Attack Mode, and it adds another 120 kW. Porsche lifted the system straight from its 99X Formula E race car. Speed is one thing, but Porsche made sure the Taycan Turbo GT can actually use it. Losing 75 kg might not sound like much, but in a car this precise, it matters.
