The plan was ambitious: transform seven existing S7s into LM-spec machines. Owners were handpicked by Saleen, making the project as exclusive as it was technical. But only three of the planned seven cars were ever completed. One of them, LM-007, began life as a late-production 2007 S7. It underwent its transformation in 2018, becoming one of the most coveted versions of this already iconic car. Rare Power and Racing LegacyThe Saleen S7 LM is powered by a 7.0-litre twin-turbo V8, churning out 1,000 horsepower in its standard tune. With a few tweaks and the right fuel, that number climbs to 1,300. The rear wheels handle all this fury, courtesy of a six-speed manual gearbox. And with a top speed north of 240 mph, it’s an adrenaline rush on wheels. When this particular car returned to Saleen’s factory in 2018 for its LM transformation, a redesigned aerodynamic kit, featuring a biplane rear wing, diffuser, and enclosed underbody, was added to keep it stable at high speeds. The Saleen S7’s story is grounded in racing glory, with over 100 victories between 2000 and 2010, including wins at the 12 Hours of Sebring and 24 Hours of Le Mans. LM-007 Returns to Auction Of the three Saleen S7 LMs ever built, LM-007 is one of the rarest examples of American hypercar engineering. The car was upgraded to LM specifications in 2018 and has since changed hands multiple times. It sold in 2020 for $1.2 million after driving only 158 miles since its conversion. A year later, it was auctioned again at RM Sotheby’s Monterey for $1,022,500. LM-007 is now headed to RM Sotheby’s Arizona auction on January 24, 2025.
