Xiaomi recently unveiled the most powerful iteration of their already launched SU7 EV. The Xiaomi SU7 is an affordable 4-door electric sedan exclusive to the Chinese market. It offers comparable looks and performance to the Porsche Taycan formula. However, this new top-of-the-line iteration, the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is a meaner beast. The SU7 is available in a base 299-hp and Max 673-hp versions. These models cost around $30,000 and $41,000 USD, respectively. The SU7 was an immediate success, receiving around 50,000 overnight bookings. Both models are currently sold out and there is around a 7-month waiting period for new orders. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is the latest, flagship addition to that range. It offers more than double the horsepower output of the SU7 Max. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: Cutting Edge Powertrain And Exhilarating Performance The powertrain of the all-electric Xiaomi SU7 Ultra hypercar consists of two V8s and one V6s. Well, that is confusing. Xiaomi has decided to call their electric motors V8s and V6s. A single V8s motor, the bigger one, is capable of cranking out 586 horsepower (578 ps) and 468 lb-ft (635 nm) of torque. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra produces a combined power output of 1,570 horsepower. This power figure is higher than what hypercars like the Bugatti Chiron offer. Nevertheless, it remains considerably lower than the electric hypercar frontrunner, the Rimac Nevera. Xiaomi claims that the SU7 Ultra can run 0-60 in 1.97 seconds and hit the 200mph mark in 5.96 seconds. Top speed limited to 217 mph (350 kmph). Xiaomi also mentions a braking distance of 25 meters from 62 mph (100 kmph) to a complete stop. The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is bigger than the SU7 Max, flaunting more aerodynamic panels and a huge spoiler. The Xiaomi hypercar weighs in at 4,188 lbs (1,900 kg). That isn't a feather-light figure. Even so, it is lighter than competitors like the Tesla Model S Plaid and Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Xiaomi is also gearing up to take the SU7 Ultra to the Nürburgring. The Chinese mammoth aims for its latest creation to be the fastest 4-door car around the Green Hell. The current EV record holder is the Volkswagen ID.R. As for 4-door electric cars, the Porsche Taycan is the current crown-bearer. Beating the legendary German automaker wouldn't be an easy task for Xiaomi. But we'll see if they're up for the challenge. Xiaomi SU7 Ultra: Pricing And Release Date The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra is currently a prototype. Xiaomi has not mentioned anything about the price or launch date of the hypercar. Hence, we're not sure when we'll be able to see the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra in the flesh. Even if it goes into production, chances are super-high for it to be a China-exclusive product. For the time being, we can only hope for Xiaomi to expand its automotive lineup overseas. Source: Xiaomi. Elektrek
